Letter "Bb" Recognition Craft Projects & Activities
We spend one week reinforcing each letter with crafts and activities after it is introduced.
"Bb" is for Butterfly
We made these handprint butterflies on construction paper, cut them out and glued to a craft stick to make a puppet.
Blotter Butterfly
Fold a piece of construction paper in half. Open and drip paint drops on one side. Children can use a spoon or drip strait from the bottle. Use at least 3 colors. Fold paper back over and rub all over to spread out the paint. Open and let dry. Add butterfly features.
"Bb" is for Bees & Beehive
For these we made the Bees and Beehive from our insect theme page.We learned about bees and honeycomb (Hexagons)and then made our own honeycomb out of cereal and painted the bees with our thumbs. Insect Theme
More Bees

Use a 3 inch strip of construction paper. Add a few black stripes and eyes. Cut wings from grey or white. Staple into a circle with wings and a string on top.
Bat Puppet From Mailbox Magazine. Email me for pattern. These are best laminated for durability. Use a white crayon to write a "B" on the back before laminating.
Bat HatGlue wings onto two strips of back construction paper and staple to the size of child's head. Children can some glue eyes to the front as well. Stamp with white paint and letter sponges around the band.
"Bb" is for Bubbles
Fill a bowl with bubble solution mixed with a few drops of food coloring. Blow bubbles into the solution with a straw. When you have a nice layer of bubbles on the top lay a sheet of paper over them to create this bubble picture.
"Bb" is for Bees Alphabet Collage
Make yellow fingerprints and turn them into bees.
Other ideas for collaging with letter Bb, "Blue Balloons": use the lid from a snapple bottle or other round cap; dip solid
end in blue paint; when dry, draw a blue line down for string.
Color the B blue,

Carl's Corner Letter B - This comes with a sheet of things to color, cut and paste to the letter.
Bears, Butterfly & Letter B Sponge Painting
Invest in some Alphabet and misc. sponges for crafts like this. They are about $2 or $3 per bag at Walmart. Also available from school supply stores. We use ours to make a page like this for every letter we are learning from September through May. Parents are encouraged to take them home and post them where the child can see and practice every day. When we finish the entire alphabet they can make them into a book or put them into a binder.
Group Time Activity
Bouncing For B's
Tell children to stand in a circle. Then have them bounce a ball to each other and say a word beginning with the letter B. Start by saying the word book, and then bounce the ball to a child in the circle. The child mist then say a B word, such as box, and then bounce the ball to another child. Keep playing until everyone has said at least two words.
